Sunday 9.11

French Toast

No pancakes today.

I made french toast instead because doing what we do every Sunday just didn't seem right for today.

To be honest the thought of breakfast nearly slipped my mind. 

As soon as I woke up this morning I turned on the TV and relived the horrific events that took place 10 years ago. 

Every year I try to avoid TV around this time, it's very hard to watch so I usually don't. 

This year I did because I wanted to see the unveiling of the 9/11 memorial. 

I think it's a beautiful memorial.

I'm glad that people now have a place to come and reflect on that day, to see the names of the innocent loved ones that passed away unnecessarily, and to see the footprints of the two towers that once stood tall in the New York City skyline.

Charlotte asked me about what was going on and I tried to tell her.

I barely squeaked out,

"10 years ago a lot of people died on this day, a memorial was built to help remember them."

We didn't say anything else to each other.

I just sat on the couch with one girl under each arm

holding them as close as I could.

Basic egg mixture: egg, milk, cinnamon, sugar, flour, other spices that you enjoy...

I chose  butter and powdered sugar for mine, the girls opted for syrup
